PN532
NXP PN532 NFC controller at 13.56 MHz, reader, card and peer-to-peer modes over ISO/IEC 14443A, MIFARE, FeliCa and NFCIP-1, in HVQFN40.
The PN532 is an NXP highly integrated transmission module for contactless communication at 13.56 MHz with an 80C51 microcontroller core, an integrated demodulator and decoder, buffered output drivers and a strong firmware, in an HVQFN40 package. It supports the reader and writer, the card emulation and the peer-to-peer modes, and it handles ISO/IEC 14443A and MIFARE Classic and Ultralight, FeliCa and the NFCIP-1 standard, so a designer can build a full NFC front end for access, ticketing, pairing or data exchange. The host connects over SPI, I2C or a high-speed UART, with an interrupt line to signal a response, so it fits a range of host controllers, and the device includes an integrated low-dropout regulator and a power switch for a secure companion chip, which supports a secure transaction when paired with a secure element over the NFC-WI or S2C interface. The low-power modes and the automatic wake-up on a host interface keep the power low, and the operating voltage range covers a battery supply. Typical applications include access control, payment and ticketing, identification, pairing and a contactless data exchange. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. FAE Professional Review
The PN532 is the reference NFC controller for a full front end, with reader, card and peer-to-peer modes and a broad protocol support, and it is easy to add over SPI, I2C or a high-speed UART. Plan the 13.56 MHz antenna and the matching carefully, because the antenna is what decides the read range, and use the interrupt line to avoid polling the host.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the PN532?
It suits a design that must add a full NFC front end with reader, card and peer-to-peer modes and a broad protocol support, such as access control, payment, ticketing or a pairing and data-exchange feature.
Plan the antenna and the host interface.
How do I design the antenna?
The 13.56 MHz antenna and its matching network decide the read range and the tuning, so follow the NXP antenna and RF design guide, keep the matching components close to the IC and confirm the tuning on the bench with a reference card.
Our FAE team can help with the antenna.
Is the device genuine and documented?
BeiLuo supplies factory-traceable PN532 devices with an import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS file on every order. Stock is normally available and the datasheet downloads from this page.
