SE050
NXP SE050 EdgeLock secure element with a tamper-resistant key store and root of trust, over the I2C bus, in a compact package.
The SE050 is an NXP EdgeLock secure element that stores the keys and the identity of a device in tamper-resistant hardware and provides a root of trust for authentication, in a compact package. It offloads the cryptographic keys from the host to a dedicated secure device, so a secret is never exposed in the main processor, and it supports the cryptographic operations a connected product needs for a secure boot, a device authentication, a secure connection and a license or a key provisioning. The device connects to the host over the I2C bus, which keeps the interface simple, and it offers a set of pre-provisioned keys or a provisioning service for a product that must ship with an identity. Where a reader such as the PN532 carries a secure transaction, the SE050 provides the secure element beside it, and where a connected product must prove itself, the SE050 is the root of trust. Typical applications include a secure IoT device, a payment or an access terminal, a product authentication and a device identity and key store. Every device BeiLuo ships is factory-traceable and includes an import declaration, a certificate of origin and a RoHS compliance file. Our FAE team helps you plan the security and the key provisioning.
FAE Professional Review
The SE050 is the secure element to add when a connected product must store a key and prove its identity, because it moves the secret off the host into tamper-resistant hardware and provides a root of trust. It connects over I2C, so it is easy to add beside a reader such as the PN532 or an MCU such as the LPC1768. Plan the key provisioning and the certificate chain early.

Frequently Asked Questions
What projects suit the SE050?
It suits a connected product that must store a key or an identity in tamper-resistant hardware and prove it, such as a secure IoT device, a payment or an access terminal or a product that must be authenticated.
Plan the key provisioning and the certificate chain.
Why use a secure element?
A key kept in the main processor can be extracted, so a secure element moves the secret into tamper-resistant hardware and performs the cryptographic operations there. It provides a root of trust for a secure boot, an authentication and a secure connection.
Our FAE team can help with the security design.
Is the device genuine and documented?
BeiLuo supplies factory-traceable SE050 devices with an import declaration, certificate of origin and RoHS file on every order. Stock is normally available and the datasheet downloads from this page.
Order a sample to validate the device before volume production.
